Two women injured in tractor trailer crash

Two women were struck and injured in a tractor trailer-car accident Monday on the Howard Frankland Bridge, according to police.

The 35-year-old driver of the tractor trailer was swerving to avoid another vehicle when he collided with the women's 1995 Ford, which was parked on the east shoulder of Interstate 275.

Two eastbound lanes of the bridge had to be shut down, from around 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

St. Petersburg Fire & Rescue were forced to removed the car's roof in order to extract the women from the wreckage. Both were taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries and are expected to recover.

Common causes of truck accidents

by Administrator 12. January 2010 04:38

Truck accidents occur for a variety of reasons. While some of these accidents may be the result of another driver's negligence, certain accidents are caused by truck drivers' negligence.

For instance, a truck driver and the driver's employer have the responsibility of properly maintaining the truck. If the brakes break, the tires wear down, or the brake lights do not work, then the truck driver or the driver's employer may be responsible for any accident damages.
